PHOTOS NINA'S PAINTINGS OUR HOUSE KURDISTAN 2003 DENMARK AMERICAS AROUND THE WORLD TRAVELS |
FOTOSAround the world travelsLeft: 1998 I went to Somalia to do research on the effect of emergency aid. I was taken to a village near Mogadishu on the Shebelle river to see Danish-sponsored seeds sprouting. At all times duyring my stay I was protected by eight armed guards. The overall positive effect of aid was very limited. Center: 1999 I went to Afghanistan. This Kuchi girl, fourteen years old, had just been married. Afghanistan under the Taliban was frightning, religous rule in its most bizarre version. Right: Kosovo 2000. One international helper pr. 33 kosovar. A deluge of international help and absolutely no local desire for reconcilliation. Denmark gave 250 times more help pr. person in Kosovo than in Afghanistan. Not because the need was 250 times higher in Kosovo, but because Denmark had 250 times more national interest in doing so. ![]() |
